What animals do you work with?

I currently work in the Carnivore unit, working with Lions, Tigers, Bears, Meerkats, Red pandas, Fennec Foxes etc. In the past I have worked in the Reptile section with all reptiles and amphibians

How long have you been working as a zookeeper?

I have been working at Taronga Zoo for 7 years and at The Australian Reptile Park for 3 years prior to that.

How did you get into zookeeping as a profession?

I started doing an Animal Attending course at TAFE then enrolled in the Zookeeping course afterwards. I volunteered at the Australian Reptile Park for a couple of years and then gained casual work. I worked on a casual basis at Taronga Zoo before being successful in obtaining a full time position.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the closeness we have with the animals and those moments where it's just you and the animal.

What has been the wildest moment of your career so far?

Nothing really stands out, it has all been amazing! I have been so lucky to have socialised with Tiger and Snow Leopard cubs, done training with Lions and Sun Bears..... every day you are involved in something that is very special.
