Solitary for most of the year, Leopard Seals find each other through song. Males sing for months, while females sing only when they are ready to mate. They sing a duet, which allows the female to choose the perfect partner.
Presbytis francoisi
Agile and cheeky, Francois' Langur live in highland forests where they forage for a variety of food sources. Babies are born coloured a deep apricot, which eventually grows out to their darker fur.
Taronga's langurs arrived from Japan in late 2004 and are happily settling into ‘Wild Asia'. Hanoi, our male, is very curious and boisterous. He enjoys exploring his new surrounds and keeping an eye on what the keepers are doing. Saigon, our female, is a little shyer.
The two are never very far from each other. Although Hanoi will sometimes chase Saigon and steal her food, at other times he is very affectionate, sitting beside her with his arm around her. They are the beginning of our future group of Francois' Langurs
