Chimps are one of our closest relatives sharing over 98% of their DNA with humans. Sadly our closest relatives face an uncertain future. Chimps are endangered with fewer than 235,000 estimated to be left in the wild.
Luckily the future is much brighter for our Chimps here at Taronga. They play a vital role in the survival of their species as ambassadors for Chimps in the wild.
The Chimp’s exhibit, after 30 years of housing five Chimp families, now – understandably - needs a complete renovation. Taronga is building a new state-of-the-art home for our Chimps. This fantastic project will cost over $1.8 million which is why we need your support.
